could someone please explain to me how you wire this switch to manually control fans when you want to. Also, so that it only work when the car is in run.

thanks

Super simple.

Connect a switch to a wire that one side goes to a ground, and the other side goes into the green w/ white strip wire in the fan control relay. When the car is on, and the switch is on the fans will run. Turn off the key, the fans turn off also. You need to ground this green wire with a white strip to do it. :

Well what kind of switch is it? How many positions?

My switch has 3 positions, 3 terminals.

Left = Both Fans On
Middle = Both Off
Right = Auxilary Fan On, main fan stays computer controlled.

My middle terminal is the ground, and the other two are for the fans.

With that switch, I think it would be best (probably doesn't matter) to use the accessory and power terminals. Run a lead from accessory to the green w/white wire on the fan relay, and a lead from power to ground.

He is talking about a single pole double throw switch. The function is to connect either of two posts to a common post. This switch may or may not have a center off position. You have to know what you are doing, or don't do it.

That switch could be used to ground a single relay, or either of two relays; depends how you wire it.

Forget what switch you have they are cheap. What do you want to do? The fans can be controlled by grounding the relay(s). Since the relays are powered by source that is controlled by the ingnition, they will only work when the key is on. This of course can also be changed.

You need to figure out what you want to accomplish, I urge you not to start messing around unless you understand what you are doing.

Good Luck,

Pete
