Default PKE doesn't work

I replaced the battery on the key fob, but when I try to program it, the PKE light on the dash won't flash when I do the steps in the manual. It just stays lit no matter what. Could it be a fuse problem? I also tried to turn on the PKE system just in case it was off, but that didn't do anything either. Any suggestions? It's not a big deal, but I would like to fix it if possible. Thanks in advance.

Default Might Try???

You might try a reset...disconnect the car battery for a good 10 minutes, reconnect and try again. Something to try anyways.

Default Did you ever resolve this?

Did you ever get this figured out? I have the same problem with my '93. I can get the PKE light to come on, but when I turn the key off, the light goes off instead of flashes.

Did it ever work? Try checking the fuses, 26, 40 and 42.

Does your PKE lamp on the DIP (light panel) light for the 2 second test when the key is turned to ON. Did it ever light for the for the self test.

If the fuses are good and the PKE does not light, then it is in sleep mode or the PKE receiver might be bad. But even in sleep mode if the receiver is good, you should be able to get the lamp to light when going into programming mode.

Thanks to all that replied. It turned out that I have a lot of slop in my ignition switch. Switching the key to the off position would just turn off the PKE light and it would not begin flashing. If I turned off the key, but kept the key firmly pushed in, it would begin flashing. Then I could get someone to bring the fob in range. letting go of the key would kill the connection. Thanks again.
