Default Header Questions

I've read where many forum members have installed headers on their cars. What are the best brands on the market? TPIS has their own brand but they seem to be pricey. How much of a PITA are they to install and do they have the same leakage problems that are characteristic of old style headers? :chevy

I assume you mean long tubes? Shorties are more or less fany manifolds.

I have hooker headers on my car. They are probably not the cheapest but they are by far not the most expensive either. They perform very well and they really are not a problem these days. If you use the header gaskets that come with the headers, they will last for about a week before you have problems. If you go with good quality gaskets you won't have nearly as much trouble.

As far as installation getting the stock manifolds out of the way is about the hardest part, and even that isn't TOO hard. I've helped a lot of my friends with camaro's install headers and it's a major PITA. I had mine on the car 20 minutes after I opened the box. The fit and finish is very nice and they do not create any ground clearance issues. On the fit and finish, it would be the same for your car as well. True I have an LT1, but nobody really makes an affordable LT1 header, so I have the L98 headers on my car.

There are some pictures on my web page if you are interested http://24.17.202.123

Most L98 guys seem to go with Hooker's (around $300-$400 bucks)
