on my way to dinner tonight there was a light rain so I went to turn my wipers on, and I got nothing. It was not a big deal as I always have Rain-X on my windsheild.
So when I get back to work, I start looking for the problem (I am at work so I only have a minute or 2) So I pop open the fuse box expecting to see a blown fuse, and it was fine.
So my question is, What else could be wrong? Blown motor? Switch isnt working? How would I know if it was either of these problems?
I forget the C4 configuration on that motor assy....but in other GM cars of the era, there is a black squarish cover plate with 3-4 torx screws hold it on....remove that, and check around the circuit card where the harness plugs in, bet there are a bunch of loose/bad solder joints on there....
cracked solder, heat them up nicely and run some fresh solder in there, freebee fix, worth a try anyway....
I had the same problem a while back. Instead of replacing the motor, I replaced the printed circuit board just under the black plastic covering on the motor. The motors dont usually go bad, its usually this piece and dont let em' fool you. You can buy just the circuit board without buying a whole assembly. Very pricey $$$
The board I got was from Advance Auto, about $65. I'm not sure on an LT-1 but on mine it was easier to go ahead and remove the entire assembly and replace the circuit board on the bench. If I remember correctly, I think I even tested my motor somehow to make sure it wasnt bad by hooking power up to it on the bench with a battery charger and it ran. Good luck.
The connector that plugs into the motor got loose and corroded on mine and quit working. I replaced the connector with one from a junkyard car and the wipers worked again.
