1991 won't start.
I checked codes, and got code 46. I have talked to a couple of part suppliers in Dallas, and a good friend that is a great mechanic, and it seems to be the BCM. I have heard that ACDelco no longer produces that part, and if you install a used one it retains VATS information from the previous car. Does anyone know the procedure to installing a used BCM as opposed to a new one?
I replaced the BCM or CCM, whatever you want to call it, and finally got the car to start. However, my odometer has been reset, and the mechanic at the local dealership told me that the CCM has already been programmed to a ZR1. I guess now that I have the car running I will send in my old CCM and see if it can be repaired, and hopefully it will retain my odometer reading. Right now I have a 1991 with 130 miles on it.
Any help here would greatly be appreciated. I made the grave mistake of jumping my girlfriends car off, and fried another CCM or BCM in my car, after just replacing the CCM. I found one in California from Auto Parts Giant, and had it shipped in, got it installed in the car, and it was defective. When I hooked the battery back up and turned the key to the on position my LCD display was showing partial numbers. I got the pass key programmed, and turned the key....cranks but no fire. I got the code 46 from the ECM, it seems as though fuel enable relay is not getting the signal. Called back to Auto Parts Giant, and they are going to ship out another one next day. Do these symptoms sound like CCM issues or could I have something else going on.
