My 91 (136K) PS pump has started squeeling like a stuck pig. Should I get the rebuild kit and mess with that (any idea how long it takes?) or just remove and replace with a new one?
After a couple of times you will probably be good at it, but I would elect to R^2 it with a new/reman. Remove and install may be a pain in the rear...I know my 96 is and the PS system is poorly engineered-caused half a dozen failure on my aggressively driven example.
Since I've heard that the pulley can be a real PITA, I'd get a reman unit from my local AC Delco outlet and pay them to swap the pulleys, just like I do with the alt when it needs service.
Thanks for the heads up on the pully pain. I'll pull it tonight/tomorrow, and then I need to order the new unit on Monday...
In the FSM it says to drain the coolant and remove one of the radiator hoses to facilitate R^2 of the pump...is this really necessary or can it be done without these added steps?

If you can lay hands on a NOS unit, then by all means, do a whole unit. However, remanufactured units
leave quite a bit to be desired....
Personally, I'd get a good kit, some synthetic Valvoline fluid, put a filter in your return line while it's empty,
and have everything hot tanked while a good machine shop pulls your pulley. Cleanliness is next to
Godliness on these pumps....
If you get the puller from Autozone it takes about 10 min to R&R the pulley. It is one of the easiest things you can do on a Vette. Put it on crank the bolt and it is off. Screw in the bolt crank the nut it is on. No mystery at all.

I agree, the puller is like $28 from autozone or they will likely lend it to you, but it is a piece of cake with it, probably a real pain without it.
Thanks all. I ended up getting a new unit...Don't want to go through all the RnR if I screwed up tearing it down to parts. Picked up a puller kit so hopefully yanking the pulley off won't be too much of a hastle.
Found my water pump was going bad too so it's getting swapped while I've got the rest of the front of the engine torn off.
Now for the best part... The fluid cooler return line was chaffed and it's not available at the dealer or any of the parts stores. Guess I will have to see if I can route a hose without kinking it, and keep it away from the pulley. Yippee.
