I just installed a set of the Bosch series III that I got from John as well and it cured every problem I was having with the car. It started hard, idled rough and didn't have any power. I think I paied $190 for all 8 injectors to my door. If you want injectors, this is the place to get them. www.fuelinjectorconnection.com

Like I said he will give you a good deal on used injectors and his customer service is excellent. Thanks for filling me in on changing the flow rate. I never heard of that. Do you change the nozzle?

I ordered them from Jon, thanks for the replies.

I have a great GM certified mechanic I have work on my cars. I have to buy the gaskets, but he is only going to charge me $200 to install them.

Sound good to hear that you bought the Bosch III injectors.

do he take 200bucks + cost for gaskets ? you can do it yourself to if you got some tools and some time, changed my injector on the Camaro and its pretty easy, never done it on a corvette thou but it may be pretty similar ?

Good move, Joe. If your not happy, you'll be in a very small minority.

However, I now understand your little picture. What is your right hand up too?

My Trick Flows were crap vs. the old Mulltecs I had (notice the "past-tense reference"?)

I ran consistent low 13'flats with the old Mull's...I put in the fancy stainless steel TF's (26#) and the best I could do was 13.20's...I put another driver in the car and was 13.30's....

I called John, he suggested his 24# Design III rebuilt Bosch injectors.....for less than 200 clams, I didnt have anything to lose.

Took 15 minutes to install (10 of which was cleaning rail and intake bores).

I now run the high 12's on every pass....fuel mileage also increased.

My son drove his first time at the track and ran 12.774 on his second run (better than my *4* 12.80's)

Funny thing about all this; my son's first words when we were installing the Design III's were: "hey Pops...these say FORD on them!"

IMHO...a person is better off keeping the Mulltecs vs. Trick-Flow or Accell's high dollar injectors....
Johns at less than 200 a set; I can change the Design III's with every fuel filter change if I have to....

BTW...its a 96 LT1....bored, decked, splayed, cammed up and ported...stock TB, headers...roller rockers and lifters....and a LT4 oil pan....a few other goodies inside.
Auto trans rolling on 18's.

John will get the injectors from the TB on my trucks, I will also send him the injectors off my 2002 4stroke Mercury outboard.

No: I dont work there.
No; we are not related.
We have never met or are friends....he does good work and has the best product out there for our C4's....and I guarantee that I will tweak my 96 and better the 12.77 my son ran!

the new accels are NOT yellow, and work perfectly fine. The old yellow ones were garbage.

I havn't tried the bosch design 3, and probably won't, since TPI injectors take about 10 hours to install. It's not worth taking it apart again.

I have never heard anyone say anything nice about the Multecs. It's good to hear that someone really believes that they are a good injector.

It sounds like the 26 lb. Trick Flows that you chose were too big. Your times were consistently faster with smaller injectors. You may have been simply running too rich with the Trick Flows. You can't blame Trick Flow for that.

And WOW you can change a set of injectors in 15 min. while spending 10 minutes of that time cleaning the fuel rails. That means you can change injectors in 5 min. Amazing! You are the best mechanic on the planet!

I saw your profile. I think with a 1979 C3 with a 1996 LT1 w/465HP you should run a little faster.

Good luck at the track. I hope your used Ford injectors serve you well for years to come.

I was just saying in my car the Mull's were better than the TF(26#) and Accells (24#s).
I offered them to John and he didnt even want them.
I edited this to add that John didnt want the Mull's....the TF and Acelll went to the Bay.

As far as fastest mechanic?...ever work on a 96 LT1?
unsnap 2 fuel rail covers, one vacuum line, 4 bolts, 8 clips...then install injectors after THOROUGHLY cleaning 0-ring bores....that aint hard to do.
If I didnt clean the rails; I am almost positive I could replace all 8 with my eyes closed, sitting on the drivers side front tire never having to move....they're that EZ!
It isnt hard....but, if I notice; you have a different engine right?

465 HP at crank doesnt equate to RWHP .....then; thru an auto tranny with 2.59 gears.... but; I do get 33 MPG @ 60MPH

KOOL88---I dont understand why you dont try a set on your car and then give an account on what you "experienced" vs. your opinion....make a deal with John and see what your car does...I'd like to know...he's a very nice dude and would probably loan you a test set to help with your car....what do you have to lose?
Is it a matter of $$$?

Since end of Jan, beginning Feb.,
I experienced 5 sets of injectors if you include two sets of Mulls (I have a complete stock engine on the side that works perfectly) but, nevertheless, 4 different brands, and I gave my experience to the OP...not opinion.
If they last 2 years; with the efficiency and clean burn I am getting, its enough for me.

I dont care if Johns injectors said Dodge, Bosch, or Hilary Clinton; they worked on my car perfectly and I wont have to take a bath on them on ebay because I bought a name brand that didnt perform in my car.

Thanks for the C3 comments ....its a guzzler, low 14's, high 13's on a great day.

Opinion---I like the looks of my 79 C3 100% better than the 96 C4....(but I am slowly personalizing it, its looks different than when I first bought it).

Experience---the efficiency, road manners, power, and creature comforts of the 96 are 150% better than my C3.

Anybody want some Mull's; let me know,
I have 16/sixteen 22#

Jim

here is a helpfull link on how to do the injector swap on a L98 without removal of the runners. I have done it like this several times. This cuts the time down a few hours. This was written by a forum member who has an 89, but its the same for all the years including the LB9 305 TPI
