As far as fastest mechanic?...ever work on a 96 LT1?
unsnap 2 fuel rail covers, one vacuum line, 4 bolts, 8 clips...then install injectors after THOROUGHLY cleaning 0-ring bores....that aint hard to do.
If I didnt clean the rails; I am almost positive I could replace all 8 with my eyes closed, sitting on the drivers side front tire never having to move....they're that EZ!
It isnt hard....but, if I notice; you have a different engine right?

465 HP at crank doesnt equate to RWHP .....then; thru an auto tranny with 2.59 gears.... but; I do get 33 MPG @ 60MPH

KOOL88---I dont understand why you dont try a set on your car and then give an account on what you "experienced" vs. your opinion....make a deal with John and see what your car does...I'd like to know...he's a very nice dude and would probably loan you a test set to help with your car....what do you have to lose?
Is it a matter of $$$?

Since end of Jan, beginning Feb.,
I experienced 5 sets of injectors if you include two sets of Mulls (I have a complete stock engine on the side that works perfectly) but, nevertheless, 4 different brands, and I gave my experience to the OP...not opinion.
If they last 2 years; with the efficiency and clean burn I am getting, its enough for me.

I dont care if Johns injectors said Dodge, Bosch, or Hilary Clinton; they worked on my car perfectly and I wont have to take a bath on them on ebay because I bought a name brand that didnt perform in my car.

Thanks for the C3 comments ....its a guzzler, low 14's, high 13's on a great day.

Opinion---I like the looks of my 79 C3 100% better than the 96 C4....(but I am slowly personalizing it, its looks different than when I first bought it).

Experience---the efficiency, road manners, power, and creature comforts of the 96 are 150% better than my C3.

Anybody want some Mull's; let me know,
I have 16/sixteen 22#

Jim
Jim, I like the look of the C3 too and black is my favorite color. Thanks for the offer for the multecs. I really don't have any use for them.

It takes all day to change injectors on my superamed L98. My 88 is the only Vette I've worked on.

Did you have your Vette on a dyno? I figure if you have 465 crank HP you should be faster in the 1/4. You say you ran a 13.2 with the Trick Flow 26 lb and a little faster with the 22 Multecs. You then install Jon's rebuilt Bosche aka Ford injectors and run a 12.8. You said your son ran a 12.77 with Jon's injectors.

I have seen a Superam L98 with a few bolt ons and long tubes run high 12s. That Vette may have around 325 HP.

I think the fact that you ran faster with smaller injecters says something. It wasn't the brand name that caused the lower ETs. It was the size of the injectors. Your Vette ran better with 22 lb Multecs because it's tuned for smaller injectors.

I think with the right tune your Trick Flows would have been fine. If you have over 450 HP you should be running larger injectors. Trick Flow states in their advertisment that a custom tune is needed for their injectors. They state "Computer and Engine Modifications Required" My 24 lb Trick Flows run great but my Vette was already tuned for 24 lb injectors. I'm gonna do a couple more mods and then get a road tune. I also have to change my shift points. My 700R is shifting way too early at WOT.

I checked Trick Flow and I can't find a 26 lb injector. Are you sure the injectors you installed were 26 lb? Here's a link to the Trick Flow injectors for sale at Summit Racing.

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...0+115&y=5&x=46

Jon was nice and offered a set of his injectors to me free of charge if I posted the results. I have not taken him up on his offer. I really don't want to change injectors again unless it's really neccesary. My Vette now starts in a split second and it idles and accelerates very smoothly. That's the way it should be. I just try to stay away from used if possible. You have to admit there are good alternatives out there and that a used Ford injector may not be the best choice.

Fred

wheather your disassembling the fuel rail on the motor, or pulling the runners, it's almost the same.

Default Bosch or Ford.

if you want you can call them Ford injectors, however Bosch makes them. It is also the identical injector used in BMW, Rover, Volvo, Lotus, All LS1 corvettes and the list goes on... Ford has always used Bosch and if you go to the ford mustang forum the only talk about injectors is going with bigger SVO injectors, Ford nor Bosch have a design that fails like the Multec..Plus the Bosch is 100% compliant to any alcohol product. Coil problems are non existant. The Multec has proven itself over and over that they are an inferior injector to the Bosch. And based on reports from customers that have installed them since we started selling them in the early 90's have been very happy.

I thought that a lot of Vette owners tried the Ford injectors and complained that they made a loud ticking noise.

I see you changed your avatar. Did you buy a C6?

the loud bosch were the pink top 22's used in the fords in the early 90's. they were designed for the f and e series fleet vehicles and had a strong coil. SVO (fords special vehicle operations) did not use them or market them Under Ford Racing , Although a good injector it was noisy. The Bosch 3's are quiet like your trick flows. My kids bought the c-6 for me for fathers day.. I guess they figured I was due since thats all I talk about.

I have 2 kids that give me nothing but headaches. You are a very fortunate man.

I've checked out the STS turbo. I think they make a good turbo. It might make it harder to sell and affect the resale value.

An extra 150 HP is nice but You must have 405 HP stock. I think I would be more than happy with that.

i think your right.. Jon's a nut.. He has a Roush F150 supercharged 5.4 and the vette blew his doors off. I will only drive it on nice days so its fine the way it came..

many injectors are noted for a loud ticking noise, I couldn't list all of them. My mustang always had loud injectors. My vette's injectors were also very noise (accel 30s). My 87 t/a injectors didn't make a sound though.

I don't know if the sound really means anything, but with my mustang, it always made me think I had valve train problems.

Loud ticking injectors are easy to fix. Simply close the hood.

20 hours? Last time I replaced the intake manifold it didn't take near 20 hours. Started one night after work, and finished it up the next morning, more like half that time.

I want to replace mine soon, I'm going to have to keep track of time when I do it.

Either take Jon up on his generous offer of letting you have a free set to try and post the results, or shut it already!

Jon's injectors are working miracles on many cars here, including my own, I'm seriously tired of the bashing.

who's bashing ??? were talking !!

TPI's just take a long time, especially if your cleaning up the plenum, and runners properly. There is 20 years worth of gunk built up on there. There is a lot of gasket surfaces to clean. All which take time.

Miracles? You replaced your clogged injectors with decent injectors. Now your Vette runs the way it supposed to. That's not a miracle.

I don't want used injectors. We all have the right to post our opinions. The original poster asked for info on used and new injectors.

I'm not bashing anyone. I actually said very nice things about Jon and his rebuilts. I don't understand why you're upset.
