No the AC system is unaffected, its part of the cooling system. Hardest part is getting all that crap back in there

Agent 86 has posted photos of the box that I found very useful in locating the upper left screw. That and taking out the seat are key elements for me. Also measure the amount that the rod protrudes at the adjustable door before removing it.

thanks for the info guys, makes me very happy that my a/c will be unaffected. this door rod is the only thing that will worry me now, i did one in a lil civic i had back in the day that i also removed the a/c from so this seems to be a lil more of a adventure

I'm just being paranoid, tomarrow i'm gonna bypass the core w/ a L adapter so i can drive it without the windshield fogging up. decided that before i pull everything apart i'll order the core and a new blower motor

When you do get that new core, do a pressure test on it before you put it in the car.

I did a h/c on another vehicle, installed the new one, buttoned up the job and did the road test.

Yep, the new h/c leaked!

partsladi has a bunch of NOS cores. since they average 18yrs i figured why take chances with parts store stuff when the OEM is only $40
