What timing advancement is everyone running? With the small mods I have listed in my sig, what do you think would be the optimum setting for my timing, performance wise? :D
Dude, no offense but WTF are you talking about. I think my timing is set at 10btdc now and I was wanting to know what others have found to be an optimum setting through trial and error. Thanks.
I think what Jake was saying was answering the question you asked first as to what timing everyone was running.
I run about 10 degrees right now but need to experiment when the car is back on the road after some body work.
Jake sent me the chip I have now and it idles fantastic and pulls real good but I may have toomuch timing for it.I didnt change the setting when I swapped chips.
Experimenting is the key.
Advancing the timing may make the car feel as it pulls harder but take a bit longer to start...which was the case with my motor before.
In stock trim,my car loved 8 degrees for some reason.
:)
When we got the yellow 90, it was set at -6. It felt like a dog, so I bumped it up to +8 and now it runs like a champ on 93 octane. I had the 90 with the 383 set at 10deg, but it was also fine tuned in the chip thanks to Shalin. Your best bet is to play with it a bit with some scan software and just watch for knock counts. More than likely you will able to set it 8-10 and leave it alone. But every car is different.

You asked how much timing I was running and I told you. Zero, none, NADA, not even one degree of initial advance.
I'm @ 10 now and have had @12 and no issues at either....Felt better @10 so put it back there.... I will do a little more trial an error.... Just go a little at a time and see how it feels to you...
