I have an 87 with a bad pressure switch. System is fully charged(134A converted) and does not function.I jump the pressure switch with a paper clip and it works so I think the switch is shot. This is the switch on the line going into the firewall, not the one by the frame, (I believe this is the high side switch??). Does the system have to be evacuated to replace this? Where can I buy a switch?
I just replaced mine a couple of weeks ago on my 87. There is a Schrader valve on the back side of the switch. I bought mine at AutoZone they had it in stock. I would also suggest getting an o-ring kit and replace the o-ring when you replace the switch.
AutoZone calls it a A/C Clutch Cycling Switch part number MT0207 and it is $14.99. They also have an A/C o-ring kit MT2541 for $3.99 and the o-ring for this switch will be in there.
