Ticking sound.
My 96 LT1 has started ticking. Its a anoying ticking, not a knock. It does this parked, and when driving. After finding that it was coming from the right side of the engine I began searching for any damage. I checked everything except pull off the valve cover. I checked for loose sparkplugs, and any exhuast leaks. I also checked the belt and tensioner. I cant locate the source. Is it common for the valves to start clapping over time? The engine has 60,000 on the clock. I have read that select oils are too thin and allow more wear with friction. Im running Mobil 1 5W30 syn. Thanks.

I recently replaced the injectors on my LT4 at 41K miles with the Bosch Stage III's from fuelinjectorconnection.com - the noise I thought was coming from my valve train turned out to be the old Multecs. MUCH quieter now!

Buy a stethoscope from your local NAPA.Or a piece of wood ,or a long screwdriver and check out all the injectors.Stick it on the injector body and listen.if you have a bad one,you're going to hear it.If not that,you should be able to isolate where the noise is coming from.
