Well, now I'm confused. I went out in the garage last night, and the pressure guage had 23 lbs. Turned on the key, pressure rose and held, did it again, it dropped to 0. Today I tried to get it to hold by pinching gas lines, couldn't get it to hold pressure, then again it held on its own a few times. Couldn't get it to drop by pecking on FPR. Now I don't know if it's the FPR, or the check valve in pump (sounds like the most likley culprit). I hate to just start replacing parts. If its the valve, would an inline valve work?

P.S. I also have a worn throttle body and am looking for a replacement. (not related to this problem)

Is the bleed off causing any starting/running problems ?? I wouldn't bother trying to put an inline check valve in. My 86 had a leaky pulsator and would loose all pressure in a few minutes. This caused me no starting/running issues. I replaced it with a piece of injection fuel line and 2 clamps and pressure loss was fixed.
Where are you clamping the fuel lines and what are you using ??

I'm just using vicegrips, I might just not be closing the line off completely. I'll mess with it this evening. It cranks a little too long before it starts is all. It's fine when running

go get a wood mixing stick and break off 2 pieces a inch long.. Put a piece on each side of the hose, then use the vice grip or a c-clamp.. You can damage the hose easily clamping on the rubber plus you can really seal it off better this way,

Another good method is to cut some copper pipe(or similar) and slip it over the jaws of your vise grips. I have needle nose vise grips that work well with 1/2" copper pipe.
