Default Queston about Oxygen Sensor location on Hooker headers

Hello Everyone

I just got home my new Ceramic Coated Hooker Super Comp headers 2151-1 and noticed that the ring for the 02 sensor is located on only one pipe. Is´nt it better to have the 02 sensor located near the collector where all four pipes comes out so the 02 sensor can get a better signal from all four cylinders ??????

regards

Tomas :seeya

Yep, but then you need to get a heated O2 sensor 'cause it won't get hot enough down there. I just read in the tech tips section-got part #'s there and buying them today.

Interesting! The 2151's aren't listed to have the fittings for smog hook ups. The 2149's have a footnote "94" W/ smog hook ups. The 2151's don't. I wonder what it is that you DO have there. Hooker lists collectors with bungs welded in. That would put the O2 as close as possible without messing with your ceramic coating. I have heard of people who welded the bung and installed the O2 in the exhaust pipe, that didn't need to go to a heated O2. Wherever you decide to install it, you may want to give the stock O2 a try before you go to the trouble and expense of a heated unit.

I just got my 2151's yesterday and there is no provisions for an o2 sensor anywere. I kinda figured it wouldn't because it did not have it in the listing. I had planned on getting one installed when I get the custom exhaust fitted up. I was planning on true duels the whole way back, but did not decide on a size or whether to x or h the pipes. You can drop me suggestions on the post "The Project" Thanks.
