I have recently been down this road a bit looking for wheels and tires to fit my 94. What I discovered is that the early C4s can wear the 36mm offset rims wheras the latter C4 like mine can't do that without tire overhang.
I just sold a pair of 17X11 36mm offset ZR-1 wheels to another forum member for his early C4. I think it was an 89. (not sure though), and he was very happy with the size of the wheels and tires. I had BFG Drag Radials mounted on them.
I think you'll love those wheels, as they are some of the nicest looking wheels for the C4.
I can't offer much as far as the manufacturer or the longevity of the chrome plating, but many people seem to be satisfied with the AFS wheels.
Go for it, you'll find that the Sumitomo's aren't as wide as some of the other 315's out there. They look nice and the price is right! Besides you only live once!

I love the chrome, but that link is for the polished version. I figure I will get the illusion of chrome, and the ability to polish out the blemishes rather than deal with the pitted chome possibility.
I only do 3 or 4 K miles per year, so I hope to be able to keep them nice, with minimal upkeep.

My thoughts exactly
I think they will look nice on my black 87, and give in almost classic look.
Although I have dozens of wheels to choose from, I always go back to these.

lookin at the sumitohos also, can't believe they're only $99 ea...is that a clue as to their quality???...anybody???
i AM in my second childhood, lovin it.
after lookin/lookin/lookin, concluded that any shiny wheel (i prefer polished vs chrome) looks good on a c4, like any hairdo on a pretty girl...my fav (wheel) is still the 5-big-holes on countachs but nobody does those polished/vette bolts

I have them on my 91, on my 2nd set of 315's but the fronts are the orignial pair. They stick good and aren't bad in rain or snow if you so chose to drive your vette year round. I swear by them and for the money, IMHO they can't be beat!

The only consistant complaint I have heard about them is that they wear out quickly.
Because I drive normally on the street, and miles are so low, I tend to dry rot them before burning them down, so I am ok with that.
I have a seperate set of drag radials on stock rims, and a nice set of slicks and skinnies on a set of liteweight weld wheels.
if your budget is 1300 dollars i would think about finding a used set of ccw wheels which are much better quality and much lighter. thats just my two cents

I don't like that wheel, and have a seperate set of race rims of the track. Price is not an issue. I simply prefer the zr1 style, and have enjoyed the look since they debuted in the mid 90's
If I had the coin, I'd be looking at new wheels for the '86. I'm real happy with the Sumitomos I put on it this year, so much so, that I put Sumis on my BMW last month.
Pete. with shipping you are looking at $1400. You can buy the sumos for about $400, meaning you are paying close to $1K for the rims. To me that is way too much. I think you can find a set of the rims for about 1/2 that on ebay. I am running the polished AFS rims, 285/40 FSWOs on the front and 315/35 sumos on the rear. The Firsetones stick like glue, by commparison the sumos are fair at best.

Thanks Andy. To be honest, I have not really checked pricing. I did plan to low ball them on their "make an offer" deal.
PS: Never had a chance to make it to Georgia till tomorrow. Going to Valdosta via Jacksonville, Fl so I still cannot find time to hang out in one of my favorite states.
