I was going to say the same about the price. I just bought a set of four American Racing TorqThrust Ms and the same Sumi tires, delivered to my door for 1113.00

Pete,I have them on mine except mine are silver. They didn't do the polished when i bought them otherwise I would have got those.I have the same size Sumi's and at the price can't fault them. The passenger rear sits flush and the drivers side is proud about a half inch. It's been discussed before and seems the factory didn't jig these cars correctly.Fronts are fine. Before you buy them, call AFS and get a price on the rims alone. They should be around $650.You can pick up the tires from Tire Rack for under $400.You are definitely thinking right about the polished versus chrome.
My buddy bought that setup for his chickenturd and got 25,000 miles out of the tires without any issues. The polished look is the way to go as I inherited those rims now and after being on a daily driver for 2 years and having that much brake dust baked on they still cleaned up nice.

I will definately investigate that.
Assuming 650 shipped for the rims, and 400 shipped for the tires, and $100 to mount and balance locally, They are approx $250 high.
If AFS and tire rack charge for shipping, That will likely tighten the gap to within $125 of the shipped price for the mounted and balanced set.
After shopping around(assuming my guestimates are close) I may just make an offer of $200 or so less, and hope they accept it. You cant beat the convenience of having them arrive ready to go.
Decisions, decisions....
I have had the silver ones for about 5 years. No problems other than I haven't taken very good care of them. I have had Dunlop Sp8000's (original package) and yokohama AVS sports. The AVS are far superior in everything except when it's very cold. In the cold, the AVS tread was hard and the grip wasn't great until the tires heated up from driving for a time.
Tomzwheels sells the same AFS rims. I bought mine (black) from him for $450 ($75 to ship). Only got 2 center caps tho'...
Same rubber for $480 retail. M&b was a few bucks too.
I would buy separate, and WATCH mount and balance. Dynamic balance; NOT static. Take duct tape too. If the lead slings in the wrong place, it could be a big problem. Mine slung, but no holes.
There is a store on ebay ( OE Wheels ) that has the ZR-1 style wheels in chrome and just wheels-no tires-- cost MUCH less--I've had my eyes on a set for my 96--I know I've seen 9.5 fronts and 11"by 17" rears-- don't know about your offset--but it's worth a look if you really like chrome .

OE don't have any 38mm offset wheels and he wants polished which they don't have either.
Pete,
I got a set of the AFS ZR1 wheels on EBAY. 9 1/2 up front and 11s on the rear. I really like the wheels. I think I paid about $800.00 for the triple plated chrome with shipping. I think they came from China.
I had a set of Sumitomos put on, 275s up front and 315s on the rear. I don't like the tires. They are a 16 soft rubber and I won't get many miles out of them. But,they are really cheap. I paid $88.00 for the 275s and about $95.00 for the 315s. I got them at Tire Rack.

Well, I did it. Sort of.
I chickened out regarding the 11 inch wide rears, and decide to go 9.5 all around. I was not positive I liked the extra "girth" that stuck out the back, so I played it safe. I have the race rims for traction, should I need it.
I just went down this road a month or so ago. AFS is the only deal in town for the ZR1 17x11 38mm offset period. Our sources for this size and offset are drying up. I wanted the black w/polished lip; that was a "n/a", went with the polished.
AFS didn't have the Vredstein tires at the time. So I got my tires from Tomz and mounted and (road force) balanced locally.

You are right. We could trip over all versions of these rims, in any offset a few years ago. Pickins are slim now.
My new job has me away so much, that I had to order tires and rims together, or I may not have time to install them before summer ends
I just hope they do not smack weights on the visible side of the rim.
On the back would not bother me, but I sure hope they use sticky weights for the visible area.
I have the same wheel, but chrome. Love them, look great. They DO stick out about a 1/2" on my '94 Vert and look MEAN!
The only thing I don't like about the Sumitomo HTRZ is it doesn't have the ring around the wheel to protect the wheel from curb rash and don't look as good as tires that do.

Pete,
The 36 mm offset is the correct one for an 87.
The correct one to avoid contact in the INNER side.
Comparing the 36mm offset to a 56mm offset , the worse one for tire sticking out is the smaller one (the 36 mm).
