Have a 95 C4 coupe and work at a auto place that has clearanced a HyperTech reprogrammer for my C4. Put Shorty Pacesetter headers on the car and am ready to reprogram the ECM. I hear very little about anyone doing the Hypertech-is there a reason? I do not believe my speedo is right-at 70 mph i am walking away from traffic-i cannot believe it is in admiration of my ride. I also want to firm up the trans shift some. The car has 44,000 miles on it with just a Kand N filter, now the headers.
Thanx
I have a 96 and I purchased a hypertech programmer and YES I LIKE IT--I think it works great on a STOCK engine--You may know already but here's what it can do --increase shift firmness (this does work mine now "barks" the tires when shifting from 1st to 2nd with ASR off and blinks the ASR Active light like crazy w/ASR on)--by the way I do have a 3.07 rear--- everyone's may not react like my car---you can change the rpms of the shift points( I didn't do this 'cause the engine is internally STOCK-- My next move will likely be 1.6 rockers and valve springs I'll try that then)calibrate your speedo according to wheel/tire size ( mine are stock)--change the temp that the cooling fans come (this feature and a 170* thermostat have me running at 190*-192* in traffic-- trans temp and oil temp are lower also) it also has 2 programs one for high test gas -one for regular-- it does this by changing ignition timing.------
Some will post and say the programmers don't work--I say on a stock engine it is a noticeable improvement for all the above reasons--NOOOO it's not a supercharger--Nitrous--or a 383 stroker but there is pretty good "seat of the pants" improvement--when the day comes that I build a 383-396 or 421 stroker it will be time for a "custom" PCM tune--once again for something that's hand held and takes 10-15 minutes--I LIKE IT!!
