Front End lowering help needed
I am lowering the front end on my 1989 Corvette. I am not sure what to use to glue the shorter rubber pad to the spring. The directions with the kit from Ecklers say to use contact cement or weatherstripping glue. I have heard that these new pads can come loose so I was wondering what other members used when they lowered their C-4s. I was thinking of J-B weld or something similiar. If anyone knows a good strong product to use I would appreciate some help. Also did anyone leave off the pads on the end of the spring to lower it further and if so is it advisable to do so? When I did mine, I got some high-strength 2-part epoxy from Advance Auto. Then let it cure for 24 hours before reinstalling. Still holding several months later, so I guess it worked.
As for the rubber end-mounts, I personally didn't do anything, but I have heard of it being done with no ill side-effects. If I were you, I would keep them and see how you like the new ride height. If you still want it lower, then you can just remove the lower control arms and remove or cut those pads down without having to take the whole spring out again. If you cut them first, there's no going back if it's too low for you.
