lol. I love the post about C4's keeping depreciating. Uh, what do you think your C5/C6 will be doing for the next 15 years?

That guy doesn't even own a 'Vette. He got rid of his '97 wonder how little he got for it?

I have no fear of a flatbed.

Hey, at least we got power antennas. Taken from C5 Gen.

So my Cousin who is an EMT just called me to let me know about the call he just responded to, It's Vett related so he said he "had to call me". This is in Naperville Illinois. Mid 30's Guy was washing his Corvette C5. Started to Towel dry it. Moved over to the Trunk Area and then it happened.
When he bent over to dry the Trunk his shorty Antenna poked him straight in the Eye! The BAD Part, --> The little metal Ball on the end of the Antenna got stuck behind his eye. When my Cousin arrived on the scence the Guy was Still Leaning over the Corvette holding the Antenna which was stuck in his Eye. Luckly his Wife was home and was the one to call 911. The Fire Dept had to Cut the Antenna to get him free from the Corvette to take him to the Hospital. Guess Which Antenna is installed on my VET.. I might now change it, or always make sure I'm wearing sunglasses while washing my car.. Just wanted to let you guys and Gals know.. I hope he is going to be OK..

It's common place for CFOT C5 & C6 owners to rip on C4's and their owners.

Like I've said before half of them bash because they can't fit into them...just take a look at the cruise-In photos.

It seems too many Corvette owners treat this car as a status symbol. Those guys always use $ and the cost of the car to put it in its place. They need to get over themselves and stop living for their cars.

OK, I just need to make a comment here.

I have recently went on 3 corvette events, and most of them I was only one of a few of the C4 owners.
Most of them were either C5 or C6 owners.

I had the same thoughts as you, due largely in part to what I have read in the past, I almost backed out at the last minute due to that.

But then I decided to buck up and just deal, as I really wanted to go.

Well, let me tell you, I had the best time ever. ALL of the people I met were friendly, didnt leave me out, did nothing but compliment my car, and if they didnt it was no big deal. I just wanted to feel welcome.

My car has almost 145,000 miles, my first vette, definately not a show car, and has many imperfections. I have owned it almost a year, and never went to anything before, but the kindness and the comaraderie (spelling) were unbelievable.

My point is, there are always going to be that kind you are talking about out there, but just take it with a grain of salt, and move on.

Life is too short to get so bent of shape out of someone elses insecurities, so just do like I did, and just deal with it in a mature manner, and realize that there a lot of good guys out there.

Especially in OT, it's a running gag that keeps running because people get worked up. Someone will always chime in who is less toungue-in-cheek or with a car show snob sob story, but my reality squares with Laura's.

i think some of the c4 ripping comes from people who have a superior complex. they have to have the latest and greatest in only one aspect of life. i've came across c6 owners who dress like hell and don't have much going on besides the car. it's their focus, and a pretty narrow one. others see a 1985 car being hammered by an integra type r on the drag strip and autocross & laugh at 109 cubic inches beating a c4. never mind the 'teg is a 2001 in perfect repair and the c4 is at 150k and isn't even performing like it did when it was younger. in my opinion, anyone who rips on a fellow car owner needs to take a good look in the mirror and ask why they feel the need to do so.

Well, I could always bring up the test 'n tune I was at where a C6Z was turning 8.0's (1/8 mile ET), while my C4 was running 7.60's (admittedly, the C6Z had a NDMF behind the wheel, but hey...)

Nah.... I'll continue to take the high road

Yep with enough money a C4 can spank most C5s and C6s and still look stock.
