Well when I first purchased my car a couple years ago there were 2 wires (Red and Black) that had the ends stripped... Stupid me wanted to see if they were HOT and touched them together! VWALLA! A spark! A couple months later when I grew big enough brass ones to take the console apart (Which ended up being very easy) I found THIS!
3 wires...
Black
Red
And pinkish color with a dark stripe down the middle!
These 3 wires lead to a connector... I decided to take the connector apart because I didnt want to have live wires laying around my car...
SO! Can you guys tell what these 3 wires are for? It looks like something from the factory... Not an aftermarket install...
1994 models have an "accessory plug" from the factory that's under the center console. It's there for connecting equipment such as cell phones and such. From the factory it's left inside the console. You have to remove the console to gain access if you want to use it. For the 94, pink wire is only hot when key is in "Run" position, orange wire is hot all the time (like the lighter is), and black is of course ground. This was all documented in the 94 owners manual.

That accessory feature started in the '91 cars when the interior design changed and continued on through the 96. Each of the two circuits will handle 10A

I noticed the same thing when I had my console apart. I traced the wires to the fuse box and noted that when I took out one of the the "accessory" fuses, there was no power. I hooked up an inverter to charge my cell phone and handsfree device! Works well.
