I have a '93 base coupe that has the RPO indicating a Cali car and confirmed via CarFax.
What can I lose in the engine bay that makes it a Cali car? I still need it to pass NH emissions but I think there has to be something I can lose since this car is never going back to Cali.
Dunno if this helps, but I bought a Camaro a year ago in NH which had just passed emissions there.....Edelbrock carb, headers etc, but not installed very well. Was hopeless: running so rich it was putting out clouds of black smoke etc: but it had still passed NH emissions.....Have you checked to find out exactly what the criteria are for a pass?
The parts are the same, but if it was bought anywhere else, it was (is) missing the mandated CA emissions warranty (about twice as long as the Feds) that came with all the parts. People outside of CA receive the benefit and pay/paid for whatever quality the OEM's had to/have to put into the parts to avoid problems out here. Unfortunately, on that rare occassion when one of these/those parts fail - it can be on your dime, so you get screwed. I'd take a 2x4 to my congress guy/gal, but thanks for helping to lower our purchase costs.

This one was purchased originally in CA and made it's way to this side of the country a few years ago.
