Ok My 85 needs the oil change... Don't know if the previous owner used synthetic-- or reg oil... looking for the best synthetic oil and filter to use..... The motor has been replaced-- it as a 2000 create motor... it has about 10,000 miles
Mobil 1 + K&N or Mobil filter. Mobil 1 was the recommended oil for all '92-'96 C4's with LT1/LT4 when the oil cooler was removed which was used on the L98 and higher engine temp to improve/reduce emissions.

Ok got about 500 miles on the oil change----- Now I have loud ticking noise comming from the #8 valve cover--- could it be a push rod -- bad valve spring-- or what are the chances that it is the synthic oil I put in it....... used mobil 1 with the K&N oil filter...??? It only hits when you punch into the throttle... in normal driving mode it doesn't do it..........
can any one tell me how to turn off the oil change light on my 92 vette?
My 95 manual says
1}turn the key to RUN, but dont start engine.
2} Press ENG MET on the trip monitor. then within 5 seconds, press it
again
3}Within 5 seconds press and hold the GAUGES button on the trip monitor. The Change oil light should flash.
4} Hold the GAUGES button until the CHANGE OIL light stops flashing and goes out. This should take about 5 seconds.
I'm lazy but on a 95 does the change oil light accually come on when oil needs changing or at mileage.
My stock 95 has a year on oil change and only 1500 miles.
No sense wasting oil or dough if it doesn't need to be changed.
Not sure exactly how it works, but when I asked that question on another forum the response was that it uses oil temperature and engine revolutions to decide when the oil is nearly worn out, anywhere between 3,000 and 7,500 miles.
I changed my oil about 1000 miles ago (when I bought the car) so I was going to see how long it takes for the light to come on. I use Mobil1 and I usually go about 6000 miles between changes, at least on my other vehicles. I just bought this car in February so depending on the type of driving I end up doing that may be adjusted.
