I'm getting ready to gut my interior and put in some kind of sound reducing product. Right now, I'm leaning toward Dynamat Extreme, but I know that there are tons of other products like Dynamat out there. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks
Wish I had seen this before I "home depoted" my car (although I am very satisfied with the result...especially door panels).
The "how to" section is simply the best I've ever seen regarding sound insulation installation. I like the section on how to test for resonance in the door panels. Thanks for the info!!!
I used Frost King from Lowe's. I am sure the Dynamat works better, but it is heavier and more costly. It helped cut down on sound and road noise, it was a worthwhile addition. I did the whole inside and the doors.
i've used it - it took 80 sq.ft. to do my 85 - it was a big job, but i'm really kinda **** - a lot of cutting and fitting, trimming, butting seams, etc, but overall, well worth it. i'm on the search for another c4, and i probably go with second skin audio...
I used Dynamat for the rear cargo area and wished I hadn't. Don't get me wrong it works great but it is berri, berri heavy. I was trying to cut down the resonance from the exhaust a little bit. Not a lot of help there but the POS Bose came to life with it. Especially the bass tones.

The doors are the biggest rattlers on my Vette. My engine with LTs/No Cats and Flowmasters is loud regardless. But having the rattles right next to your head sux.
I used edead on mine, all the butyl based deadeners work fairly well. I also did a layer of the crazy cowboy precut kit. I also went through and replaced a lot of the interior fasteners at the same time. Really cut down on the rattles and increased the comfort at the same time. On a similar note, the total mass I added to my car with all the deadener I installed was less then fifty pounds. I didn't lose any noticeable amount of time on the track.
I'm interested to see how you go on this one!..............I'll look to make this move just before next spring on my 96, and I have no idea of what material to use at this point in time.
I had this stuff extensively applied to my car and it WORKS! My door panels were loaded up with this "QuietCar" stuff and the difference, I am told, is night and day. Mind you, my restorer still has my car, but I had him spray this liquid everywhere and he told me that in addition to using Dynamat, he used QuietCar and it makes a substantial and noticeable positive difference. He said the noise the doors now make when closing sounds solid as opposed to what they used to sound like.
You can apply QuietCar via roller or spray it on. I had it sprayed on. The more coats you apply, the better it works.
I used Raamat and then Second Skin Over Kill foam in my car. The results were dramatic. My car has true dual exhaust w/ Flowmater 50's, and before the install, you had to speak up to have a conversation in the car, now no problem talking to a passenger or the cell phone. It is so quiet that I am considering replacing my mufflers w/ muffler eliminators so that I can hear the engine again.

BTW, I have not yet done the doors, that should happen this week.
