Hey all. Well I must have done something wrong. I decided it was time to clean the engine of my 86 and also replace a hose that blew going to the bottom of the throttle body. So I removed the intakes and also replaced my valve covers with chrome ones and cleaned the engine. All through this I took pictures so I would make sure I put everything back. Well I must have done something, now the poor thing runs rough and is burning very rich. Makes my eyes burn.
Does anyone have any ideas for me? I checked the vacuum lines and they seem to be fine. The sensors are all plugged back in. I do not get a service engine soon light.
I took it out for a test drive and the cars rpms keep getting higher. So at this point I am lost.
Check the Cold start switch connector and the ECT sensor connector which are both right on the front of the lower manifold right below the throttle body.
Either of those connectors being unplugged or not seated could easily cause a rich condition. The ECT connector looks like the IAT connector and the CSS looks like a fuel injector connector. Good luck, -Matt-
I would check your tps voltage as well as your IAC counts. The Idle air controller will make your car run too rich at idle if its not functioning correctly.
