Trying to replace the white gear and the 3 small bushings in both headlight motors. Removed both Headlight assemblies from car today....but can't seem to get the motors off. Not sure exactly what to do because the removal articles I have, including the "Sticky" posted here....don't seem to correspond with what mine looks like. Don't want to get it off and then not reassemble correctly. Anyone done this with an 89??
I'd like to know if I should note any particular position of any part of the motor assembly. Can I mess this up if I change the position of anything?
It seems like the cotter pin can be removed from either end. Does it matter which way I hammer it out?
I replaced the gears and bushings in my previous "89" years ago, and had no problems using the instructions from this forum.
Just use common sense and after looking at it for awhile you'll get it. Use the plastic **** to rotate the assembly so, you can access the torx bolts. Also, be very careful with the cotter pins because they are fragile and will break length wise if hammered too much.
Once you complete one side, the other side will be done in half the time.
