Default Coolant in the AIR system

Does anyone know why and how coolant would be in the AIR tubes?

It is a 1989 L98

Blown head gasket - does it run like crap?

Head gaskets were just replaced. Started leaking coolant from exhaust manifold on driver side on initial start up after replacing head gaskets. Heads were sent to a machine shop (warped). New head bolts, sealant on treads. Torqued insequence to proper Ft lbs.

Ran fine before intial tear down. Was getting coolant in oil. That was the reason I replaced head gaskets. Also intake manifold gasket was shot.

Well - you either put a coolant hose where it doesn't belong - or the deck of the block has a rut or dimple in it from the previously blown head gasket or the block cracked (assuming everything else is right). There isn't anything else that I can think of that's going to put coolant in the exhaust - the only path is through the exhaust valve. Coolant has nothing to do and isn't anywhere close to the Air Pump, but just in case, check hose routing. The solenoid has a hard line in from the Pump, one outlet out the back that splits to each header. Another outlet out of the back to the CAT. A final outlet below that vents to the atmosphere near the waterpump. Check compression at the cylinder where the head gasket was blown, the one next to it, and the one next to that, preferably hot and cold, but if coolant is showing up the minute you start it, cold should tell you where the problem lies.
