Can't say for certain on a 1990, but on my '85 with sport seats, there is a square shaped bail (sp) or bale (sp) wire that clips over the tubular frame right in front/centre on the bottom of the seat cushion. It's easier to release the bail/bale wire if you are sitting on the seat.

The bottoms have a clip at the front of the cushion that engages with the seat base.Just push it down and they should pop out. For the backs, grind a notch in an old screwdriver, pull the cushion as far forward as you can and you should see a vertical wire that engages with two clips, one at the top,one lower down.Push that wire towards the center and it should pop out of the clip. There are two wires on each seat back.

THANKS GUY'S I have to remove my cushions on the 88 (sport seats) and the 90's drivers side. Shame cause the passenger side on the 90 is like brand new but should replace em both so the color matches. Pipe

If the 90's seat covers are sports, black leather, and you're just going to throw them away, I'm sure I could use them.

...I have to remove my cushions on the 88 (sport seats)...
After you release the seat cushion you will need to open 3 electrical connectors and 2 air connectors before you can remove the cushion from the seat frame.

The back is a little more complex due to the embedded controls and the fact that the leather is stapled to the sear plastic frame sides...

I'm just fininshing up installing the bottom seat controls into new foam and fastening new leather over the foam. I wanted to do both seat cushions before tackling the backs due to the expected learning curve on the backs.

...this "stapling" is what is stopping me from considering doing a replacement of the leather in my 88......
