I installed a set of Pacesetters shorties on my LT1, and on the PS the header rubs my fuel lines. I took the bracket that holds my fuel lines to the heater box off and it gave me a little room. Is that the common fix for this install? I wrap the headers with the cloth header wrap. I am just wanting to know if this will cause a vapor lock in my fuel system from the heat??? Is there another solution to this issue? Can someone with Pacesetter shorties chime in and let me know what they did?
Thanks for any info!!!!
Robert
You are on the right track disconnecting the lines from the heater box, my solution was a combination of bending the lines forward toward the A/C line, then tie wrapping outward to the diagonal brace that runs from the firewall to the frame. Not sure if this pic will help but think it shows the lines are forward of the bolt to the heater box.
WOW!! Your right about the cost. But they do look good and clean.
Hey, what did you do about the DS A/C and ALT brackets? The bracket that goes on the 3rd header bolt is not that big of a deal, I can deal with that. It's the bracket that goes to the 2nd header bolt, thats got me worried about what/how to deal with it.
Thanks, Robert
Do you guys thing that the shorties made a difference? If you had to do it over again, would have just gone with long tube?
I don't know yet, as I'm not done. I hope they make some kind of difference( I can't afford the long tubes yet). I had other work to do that required me to remove alot of parts for the headers, motor mounts, water pump, new cats, Borla cat back, 4 wheel brake job w/D&S rotors, MSD 6AL & MSD coil, QA1 shocks, Nitrous plate system, new injectors, new rear spring, new steering colum and new air dam with the brake cooling air ducts. I also have new upper and lower ball joints and inner and outer tie rod ends to do, but I think I will wait a couple of mo before I install them (I need a brake)...LOL...

I can see Pacesetters wonderful instructions left you as baffled as they did me, they are pretty bad.
Not easy to get a picture in there now with the AIR control valve, ASR servo and inner fender installed but I gave it a try.
Looks like I used the replacement bracket supplied by Pacesetter (silver) from the second bolt to the rear of the alternator. Note it is forward of the stock black bracket that goes to the intake manifold. The other two brackets attach to the third bolt using a spacer and short added bracket, I think I used a stud instead of the bolt they supplied.

I chose shorties for improved appearance and to maintain emission compliance, performance was a secondary consideration, improvement was noticeable but not substantial.
Pacesetters were chosen because of their low cost compared to other shorties which cost nearly as much as longtubes, I also had a discount coupon that further reduced the price. The 15/8" primaries were not an issue on my nearly stock 350 LT1.

I bought mine used from a forum member(HRD2GET). So I did not get instructions or brackets with them. I wasn't made aware that there was extra brackets & bolts that came with the Pacesetters. I guess I will go to there website and download the instructions and see if I can get the specs on the brackets so I can try to make them.
Thanks once again for your info, it's been real helpful
No help at the Pacesetter web site. Anyone have suggestions, or a set they want to get rid of??????
Thanks
Evidently my '94 has a little more room. I had about an inch clearance on the fuel lines and it has not caused vapor lock.
I used my stock braces, though I did have to modify them a little. They bend very easy if you have a large vise. The one to the A/C bottom bolt, I heated it and stretched it some and made the required bends. A grinder helps also to flatten the brace ends.
The difference in fit is the spacers on some of the header bolts and clearing the valve cover just behind the A/C compressor. It was easier than trying to install the Hookers I first started with.

Well that would explain it, the only thing worse than lame instructions is NO instructions! Send me a PM with a regular e-mail address and I will scan my instructions and parts sheet then send it as an attachment, the original is a very poor copy so don't get your hopes up.
Do not leave the alternator brace off, damage to the alternator or accessories bracket on the drivers side is almost a sure thing without it. If you can't adapt the factory brace as suggested by Eddie and the Cruisers I would try calling Pacesetter, they may sell you that one part.

I think the fuel line routing did change in 94, on early cars there is little clearance between the lines and header.
