He drove it, said it sounded bad, duh! No vibrations in the car though. Jacked the rear up, ujoints are ok, wheel bearings are ok. Runs the car with wheels off ground, said it sounds like its comin' from the differential area.
Checks fluid, fluid is good, no metal shavings to be found.
Any other tips/ideas? I'm going to get a second opinion as soon as I can, maybe even a third one.
I would start with the rear brakes which is the easiest to diagnose. Start with a visual check of the rotor surfaces to see if their ground away.
Also, I would drive on a straight road at a low steady speed and with the button pushed in, pull on the e-brake handle a few times to see if it feels different or if it changes the noise or not.
Sounds like someone pulled the old huge zip tie around the driveshaft gag on you....which is a great trick by the way!
That doesn't sound like brakes to me ....maybe one of the wheel anti-lock pickups is hitting the tach wheel on one of the bearing hubs. It sounds like something rythmical....and expensive.
