Default Sticky valves???

I have a 1987 Corvette convertable and always at start up (after sitting for a while) I have smoke coming out of tail pipes. It does go away after a while but it is a little embarrassing. Im told, oil is seeping to cylinders. I am planning a engine rebuild in 2 years. I have 90,000 miles on it. Is there anything I can do to stop this smoke. will sythetic oil stop it and can I use it in this vette? Any help will be appreciated

My experience is you got bad valve seals. Excessive heat and age has made those seals worthless. Do a search and you should find a few articles on how to replace them. It's not terribly hard, the worst part is getting that damn EGR tube off and on; take maybe an afternoon.

PS. Synthetic oil will just make it worse until you replace those seals. Synthetics tend to disolve some of the varnish/sludge which will let more oil leak down your valves.
