Hey guys, I have an 87 corvette that when driving between 40 and highway speed the car surges. It feels like you are pushing and releasing the accelerator. I have replaced the EGR valve which hasn't helped. I am wondering if it is the lock up converter locking and unlocking. It only does this in overdrive. Any help out there please. Russ
Wish i had an asnwer too, I had a Bad IAC and replaced it, my car ran fine then would just not idle at stop signs without my foot on the pedel 9tough with a manual). The IAC fixed this problem but now my idle is to high sometimes when shifting. But i have a strange hicup at highway speeds, its a tiny surge wierd thing at steady speeds, happens for a second or two then goes away. I have only owned the car about a month and only drove it a little on the highway so Now I'm not sure if i dare take it 400 miles on a trip.
I have been told you need ot reset the idle when you swap the IAC (there are threads on how to do it) maybe we both have a problem related to that, new parts and it needs to be reset. Hope you figure out something and post.
Check your tps (throttle position senser)
Just my 2 cents
Your IAC only comes into play at idle, once the engine goes above idle it is no longer part of the equation.

Check for vacuum leaks as well. The brick on and under the gaspedal method.
Steady at 2000 rpm and start spraying small amounts of injectorcleaner or similar on all gaskets, vacuum lines, anywhere you might expect a leak.
Don´t forget under the fuel vapor canister as someone suggested a day or so ago.

those vacuam lines can get real brittle on a 23 year old car. WW
