Just finished installing a fresh 406 in my 90 C4 , got a little over 3 gal. of coolant in it, first run water temp was at 110 then spiked to the high limit (buried like something was wrong withe gauge), shut it down and next day added another 1/3 gal., ran for 20 min. then spiked again, let it sit for the night and in the AM was able to get a little more coolant in, almost made it to work before it did it again. Is my sensor or sending unit messing with me or do you think it is possible it is just seeing steam from trapped air or something? help plz. this is my first experience with a vette and want to know if there are some tricks to the cooling system or do I have a problem thanks

Raise the front of the vehicle when you fill the cooling system. Then additionally, put a vacuum source on the cooling system (pressure tank), that way you can get the last trapped air out of the system. Pull vacuum till it holds pressure. Might want to check so you don´t pull vacuum from the overfill tank. Heard my mechanic perform this trick on my ´91 and has worked perfectly.
Any input or comments welcome on this since I am not a mechanic, just trying to throw in a few pennies here.
