Default Cold air intake numbers please!!!

I have read and read many testimonies on how much the vortex rammer sucks. And how much it rocks. But i want true numbers on gains or anything. Please help or if not the rammer then any other that is worth the money. Thanks

It sucks. It sucks. It sucks! For about $300, I would buy 15 air-foils before I bought another Vortex. I gained 10 rwhp by removing it. It is so cheaply made that it warps and collapses in on itself.

I bought the real real corvette ram air and it has a scoop under the car, you can hear it at high rpms and I feel ot for real. I had a cut lid noticed nothing with that!

Well, we he got the Rammer and we installed it. Should have taken off the shroud, seems like it could have saved us tons of time. Unfortunately I cannot for sure say there were gains as he did some exhaust work since the last run as well. I am planning on removing the shroud and trying to line up the cuts, as well as attaching something underneath to help 'ram' some air into the intake (similar to what dave68 ((I think thats his name)) in the C5 section did). I'll post results good or bad.

I have the SLP cold air system. It's made of thick plastic. It's sell for $199.95 and free shipping. http://www.lmperformance.com/1751/

I notice a major difference when the outside temps are cold.

The slp comes with a new filter similar to the K&N. It mounts to the stock air box. You cut a hole in the radiator shroud. Then you mount a rectangular air intake that draws air from below the radiator.

The air under a C4 hood can get hot. The stock intake draws air from under the hood. If the air outside is about as hot as the air under your hood, you won't see any difference with any cold air intake.

The difference in air temps going into your intake can affect your performance. When my Vette is drawing ice cold air it's much faster. I don't think any cold air systems "rams air" into your engine even at high speeds.

If I take the Vette to dragstrip on a hot sunny day my times will be slower. That's because I'm drawing hot air from a few inches off the boiling hot asphalt.

I think a good cold air system works well as long as the outside air is much colder than the air under your hood. I like the SLP. It's been on for about 3 years without any problem. I think SLP's claim of 20 HP is possible under ideal conditions.

If you dynoed a C4 when it's was running hot and then compared it when it's drawing in ice cold air, you might see a 20 HP gain.

I can hear a slight hissing noise under the radiator. That noise is caused by the engine drawing air. It's not louder under the hood and the exhuast isn't any louder.
