Default seat belt stuck

my 86 driver side belt is stuck in the retracted position, any tips or tricks to unjam it?

my 86 does the same thing on the drivers side. If I pull it forward it releases.. other than that I cant help ya brotha...

Could not be the little **** "cinch" that is stuck. Small spring in it broken maybe?

Well, yeah. Aint that someting. Other than trying to pull out and push in and repeat that exercise for a few hundred times...... It´s a nice way to learn fly fishing, ok joking now.

Nothing in the fsm about tearing apart for obvious reasons.

Is it only the upper part of the belt sticking or both lower and upper.
In my ´91 fsm it says this:
If there is any question, replace the belt system.
Damage, whether visible or not, could result in serious personal injury in the event of an accident.

You cannot be safe enough, maybe da dealer´s the only way to go.
Da dealer.

There was a recall on this problem, go to GM recalls & see if the 86 is there I got new seat belts for a 89 just last year because it is a saftey issue. I wish I had the recall number handy but alas I don't.

Yup I called on my 85 but the first dealer i talked to will not change the color (i have red and i want black) but if it is stuck the will change it for free all you need is your vin #
