I have an 89 with the 6-speed manual transmission and since I got it(couple months ago) first gear has been a pain in my butt. Seems I can't go above 1500 RPMs without it jamming, leaving my drifting in the middle of the intersection with horns blaring, while I listen to my gears grind. I don't know why but I just can't shift out of 1st gear for my life until it "un-jams" itself. I can't think of the problem either.
Oh and also, I had to drive for about 2 hours non-stop recently and I wasn't able to shift into and gears unless I used alot of pressure, which i'm scared to do as it probably isn't good for the car. This effect didn't start happening until I has been driving for a long time. The clutch pedal became real lose and I had to have it all the way to the floor to be able to get it into gear. I have not checked my clutch fluid, but i'm thinking there is a leak somewhere. Although, I started it up 4-5 hours later and the gears worked like a charm. again.
