After coming back today from a nice vacation I went to drive my car home. I almost made it home when the clutch went to the floor. They was a sort of clank sound as it happened. Now I can't push the clutch in without it grinding like crazy and stalling. The clutch pedal seems very loose. You can hear a slight clanking sound at idle. Any ideas what I'm in for?
Its a 90 6 speed. The engine was replaced last year with a new clutch.
Does the clutch disengage when you step on the pedal? My guess is that it is something inside the bellhousing, if the hydraulics were not functioning, you should get no or partial disengagement.

It doesn't disengage at all. I can't push the pedal in without it grinding.
I've never replaced any of the hydraulics. I checked the reservoir and it's full.
Full reservoir only means it's not leaking. It could still be the clutch master, or did the arm from the master to the pedal come off? Remove the drivers side hush panel, and reach up and see if it's still attached. If the pedal does not go up and down it could be this, or what Larry said about the throw out bearing. This happen to my car, the clip was not put on right (I wonder you did that?) and it came off while driving the car.
the master cylinder pushes on a fork that pushes on the plate. the way i would go about this is to remove the master cylinder and check to make sure it's operating correctly. if it is the transmission needs to come out and you need to figure out what broke. a clutch change isn't really as bad of a job as it sounds like. if you do it on jacks the one thing you need to be is somewhat in shape. the easiest way i have found to install one of the ZF's is to just bench press it up and wrestle it in. if you have a low height transmission jack that would probably also work. me? i just get mad at it and rough it up some. talk bad to it and shove it in
