Default Coolant temp sensor lt4 '96

Hi Guys:

I replaced the serpentine belt last night on my '96 LT4. Unfortuantely while pulling on the breaker bar I broke the plastic connector on what I believe is the coolant temp sensor. The sensor is near the water pump on the front of the block. I bought Auto Zone part number SU109. I heard there is another sensor/switch on the intake. Did I get the right part?

I got this:

thanks,

The Coolant Tempature sensor on the LT-X's is located on the waterpump housing. If what you broke was off of the waterpump and not the engine block itself, then the part that your showing is what you want to replace. Here are a few pictures of the sensor installed on a LT-X waterpump for reference.

Goodluck with your repair!

Thank you very much. Pics are great ! Yes I broke the plastic housing from the sensor itself the one with the barb. I thought about superglue and just plugging in the two blades but I thought the right way would be to replace the sensor. If I siphon coolant from the fill tank without emptying from the lower radiator hose and just expect spilage by putting down some towels will I be OK?

I just realized that I have to be careful of the optispark. Now I am a little worried. How much coolant can I expect to come out of the coolant temp sensor hole?

Will putting down towels etc be enough to protect the opti?

I did the exact same thing a couple weeks ago but My connector broke as well.Put a small can under the sensor when you remove it. Mine only drained about a Pint or so.
