Where GS upgrades are discussed, has info on the two piston calipers for the 12" rotor. I am thinking since my car has 12" rotors, can I simply replace the single piston calipers with the two piston calipers for 12" rotors?
I was also thinking that I could replace my rear calipers with the same.My parking brake should not be a concern, since it's nothing more than a mini-drum brake inside the rotors hub, I could use the two piston front caliper in place of the single piston rear I have now...right?
What year is your car? Assuming because you said you had drum emergeny brakes it is a 84-87. The only problem with your thought is that you front spindle supports won't work. You would have to make a bracket that could bolt to your spindle supports and then to an 88-94 12" caliper bracket. As far as the rear, A.O. Engineering sells a rear bracket that will mount two calipers. They use the stock rear calipers but it mounts two of them. A.O. Engineering does not sell straight to the consumer so you will have to find a dealer that sells there products. As far as the front as long as you make your own bracket, which you said you can fabricate anything, a stock 88-94brake caliper bracket and caliper will bolt right on. You will notice a big difference in this.
I was thinking I would notice a big difference. All I have to do is get the calipers, make the adapters and bolt them on. I can probably make adapters from scrap metal at my neighbors machine shop.
Anyone got any calipers they don't want? I can't afford much but I can pay shipping. :)
I've got a set of calipers, rotors (about 5K miles), brackets from my 94 you can have for shipping costs (all or any piece). I just did the GS upgrade about a month ago.
Snaketr...I want 4 front calipers. I am intending on putting two piston calipers on all four corners of my car.
If I can get the set from John ( above ) and the other two from you, I can do all four. I know I will have to make the brackets for the rear calipers and hopefully the brackets John has with his fronts will work for the front of my car.
