Knocks when scanning. Something wrong with ignition setting???
tougher cam.
slighly higher CR = 9,5:1
larger intake
bored to .030 over which equals 355 CID
TPIS longtube headers
WHen scanning using the winaldl sw it disables the knock sensor ignition control.
When giving throttle and when driving the engine knocks with even low rpms and load. The harder load the harder knocks.
The BLMs and INTs are within the acceptable
Question: Does this mean I have set the ignition too high? Should it in theory be quiet when driving with knocksensor disabled?
The ignition is difficult to set as I have a balancer where the marking is wrong in relation to the L-98, which means I have measured on a stock where it should be and marked it on the one I have so a source for fault is present. I have adjusted it after the marking to 6 degrees BTDC as described in the book.
And question 2. Normally when setting the ignition to stock specs. 6 degrees BTDC and having no knock sensor would it be normal that the engine should knock when driving with different loads?
would appreciated some comments please
