I changed the front windshield pillar weatherstripping on my 85 (the one that goes on three sides) and it still leaks in the rain. It has got me very frustrated. It drips water from the two corners where the top meets the pillar. It looks like it seals way better with the new weatherstripping. On the passenger side it seems to run down through the plastic panels and drip from where the last screw is. Drivers side the water runs down to where the seals meet. Has anybody experienced this, or know of a solution? Thanks.

Hey, I got the same result after having changed my weatherstripping too. You just have to keep adjusting the windows to get the right fit so that you don't get wind noise or water leaks. Takes lots of time, or it has for me. :smash:

A new weatherstrip won't do you much good if your windshield seal is bad. Water seeps up in between the glass and the flat black metal trim that holds it in place, then leaks down inside the car. If this goes on for too long, you will have rust forming on your windshield frame.

If he leak is coming in underneath where the tabs are on both sides where the weather stripping meets....That is where mine leaked and all I did was pull the top and carefully bend the tabs downward as to push down on the weather stripping more, and has not leaked since..... Hope this helps.....

As far as the silicone goes...Don't do it. We used some on a Chevelle that had a leak at the top of the windshield, and after a while it developed severe body cancer where we applied the silicone. The NAPA guy told me it was due to the salt content in the silicone that did it.
I don't know how much ferrous metal vs. fiberglass is in that area (I've been fortunate with both of mine), but I wouldn't chance it. I think the guy who said it may be the windshield seal itself is on the right track.
