Forgive me....I am new to the Corvette scenne. I have a 86 Vette and it has a "redish" fluid leak everytime I start the car. I cant seem to find where it is coming from. Its dripping off the crossmember on the passenger side. Any suggestions??
I would think that a "redish" color would be transmission fluid, power steering fluid or the "orange" flavor antifreeze. Engine builders oil is somtimes a thick red and so is "Marvel Mystery Oil".
Or it could be the previous owner's "blood" from the "blood sweat and tears" he put into the car over the years.
These cars are fun....fun to work on...fun to drive.
From the crossmember, passenger side...let's see unless the previuos owner swap coolant for Dexcool, I'd say it's a leak from a tranny cooler line. Anyway, open the hood and take a look at it.
As a new member, it's is required for you to post pictures of your Vette exterior, interior, engine compartment and girlfriend or wife if you have it.
I have been doing a lot of work to the car... I had to replace all the fuel lines...clean out gas tank..etc. It is not power steering fluid...the one in the container is not red. Is the transmission fluid pressureized when the engine is running? I think its from the transmission cooling lines but as you know its pretty hard to see down in the engine compartment. All I can see is it coming out quite fast...
