speedo gone bad?

speedo gone bad?

Here's the scoop. Car runs great.

Symptom:
- speedo sets at zero at all times
- no fuel measurements other than fuel guage level (no mpg reading)
- no trip odometer movement or main odometer movement
- no cruise
- no radio volume adjustment.

Attempt: This totally sounds like the speed sensor
- changed with GM replacement
- NO EFFECT. Still same problem.

Any other thoughts? I'm almost thinking the new damn sensor is bad. I don't think the gear on the speed sensor can go on backwards could it???

Stumped.

Four parts in system.

1. Toothed wheel in tranny

2. VSS

3. two wires going to PCM

4. PCM

The VSS puts out an AC voltage pulse you may be able to see on an analog meter or scope.

Wires were in good shape & toothed wheel was in good shape. I can't check the PCM, so I'm going to see if the VSS that I bought from GM is crap.
