Default Nimrod needs advice

So I'm talking on the phone this morning while driving the vette(that's the nimrod part) when I hit the mother of potholes and now I have a tear and a little lump on the side of my front right tire. SO what are my options after I throw my phone away. I assume the tire can't be fixed So is it even an option to replace just the one tire or do I need to do both fronts. At that point what's the best option for 4 non run flat's. I am not a racer and rarely drive over 100 (honest !)

Bob - sounds like the ply came apart and air got trapped in between...you may have also broken a belt in there too...either way it is new tire time. You should buy/install tires in pairs (buy two). Install the new tires on front and put the other 2 on the rear. Keep the other good used tire you removed as a spare for future pot holes.

I've had this happen myself....if it makes you feel better you can poke(don't go too deep) the bubble with something sharp and let the air out for a more normal looking tire.....yes, the tire will still hold air.

Good Luck!

I would replace in pairs as well.

It's a ply separation and can't be fixed. If the the other 3 are matching tires and you can find one to match them you can replace just the one. People who only buy tires in pairs have listened to too many tire salesmen. BTW I was almost hit by a moron in a Vette trying to SHIFT and talk on his cell phone last week.

Because tires play such an important role in every vehicle's comfort qualities and handling capabilities, it is always best to drive on tires that are identical in every detail, including tire brand, model, size and remaining tread depth. Anything else involves some type of compromise.

maybe you can switch the wider rears to the front. Then buy some big wide tires for the rear ? 325 or 315 ?

Isnt talking on the cell in CT illegal ?

Check out the Toyo Proxes 4 if you are going to replace all 4 tires, they have great reviews, are reasonably priced and balanced out well, I changed to new tires and wheels and miss the Toyo Proxes 4's I was running, they were quiet and handled well and had excellent tread life. Google them and see for yourself!
