Default Initial impressions....427..

Well, first problem is it's hard to find enough highway here to get this thing moving. I put the pedal down, go really fast, have to slow down. I have to find some open road.

The car "turns on" about 3500 RPMs. On the highway I cruse about 2200RPMs at 60. If I put the hammer on, I get pinned in my seat 3500 rpms and up, and up, and up.....

I haven't had any off the line experience yet, as someone is always in front of me. PLUS the tires just let lose.

Temps and everything seem to be in line with what is normal.

I drove it to work today, as I was too tired to really deal with it yesterday. It's going to rain here for a few days, so it won't come out until the rain stops, probably wednesday.

It's a 9.5 unit?

Definitively are you happy as your first impression?

In the last couple months I dropped about $40K. My wife is ready to kick my ***. I'll have to be good to the tires till this blows over. Keeping my head down...

New Car. I bought a CTS from a dead guys family, 200 miles. $24K. They paid $36. Then the Vette at $12K, then boat stuff, she's ready to kill me.

The price of staying married is far lower than the cost of the alternative.

I'll be down, gotta get the tune right first. Seems close.

Some guy from AFR called me asking for your wife's number....

Kinda sucks that its gonna rain for the next coupla days. I live not too far from Bergen NJ, so I know your weather sucks too.

You should bring that puppy to Numedia (sp?) and race me when my 396 is done.

BTW, I am one that isn;t convinced that AFR heads will give me that much of an advantage at the drag strip. Too many other variables...

I have to dial in the tune, but yeah, sounds like fun. If not soon, next season.

We should start a pool on how long the D36 lasts.

In weeks or miles? I don't put a hell of a lot of miles on the car....so I'd go miles. It has 33K right now.

The base tune seems pretty good, have not data logged it yet, I will download Datamaster shortly and do it. It won't stop raining until Wednesday so I can't do anything until then

3.07 I do think I could benefit from a 3.45ish, but it's good as it is for now.

I pull 2000 RPMs at 60MPH, I really don't want to raise it.

sounds like a nice 427-
You and I know 287 is nicknamed The Speedway-I won't mention the locations, but there are several where LEO can't hide-especially northbound

John, good to hear she's running and running well...

You have about two weeks to get onto rolling into the throttle at launch; when you get pretty good at it you will be ready to bring her to E-Town, say on the 27th, for some test & tune runs. Your D36 should be quite safe since you're on street tires.

It'll be much easier to launch on the sticky track and you can still use that big engine at WOT for most of the 1/4 mile pass. Once you have a reasonable trap speed and launch weight we can get a pretty good peak CHP number.

BTW, does she get sideways when you drop the hammer at say 30-40mph??
