Well today I took the family to the track and competed in Beavers Springs Mean Street Nationals. It was a great time and the event went real smooth and quick.
The weather was clear and hot. DA when we got there was 3560ft and by the time we left it was 4160ft. THought for this time of year things would have been better.
Nevertheless, and regardless of the weather the old vette rocked out some new bests. The car went a 1.31 60' time and 10.07sec. Not too bad since last year its best was better weather.
Went a few rounds and then broke out by .003sec. They were running a pro tree which took some getting used to. I was surprised to go as far as I did since at first I was really slow off the lights.
All in all the solid rear worked flawless on a less than stellar track and conditions. Also it was a great day to spend with the family and get some new bests.
Great times ski ! What size is your motor? I am saving up for a Dart Little M block, and building a high spinning 427, w/a built TH350, 3000 stall, and a D44 w/3.54's (until I can afford one of your setups). Should do 11's all day, IMO.

Its a 434 dart little m base; 11.5:1 compression, brodix M2 race system heads 227cc; bullet racing cam, and single plane intake converted to EFI.
Nothing really special, just well balanced/matched setup that has been refined to go from high 10s to now consistent low tens in pretty poor weather. This fall it should be well into the 9s.
Alot of the success of the setup is due to the 60' times that its able to pull. The solid rear really makes it possible. Just switching to the solid rear has the car running nearly .1sec quicker in just the 60ft area!
Thanks again for the nice comment. Wish it would have done that yesterday since there was a wheelie contest. It was carrying the front to just right before the 60ft cones about 1.5ft in the air. If the weather would have been a little better it would have lifted them higher and with a simple change to the 4link I could have easily won the competition. But I did not think the air was good enough for the motor to carry it that far. That video was from last fall in about 1500ft da weather. Just from yesterday the car would have been going almost .25sec quicker getting me that hiding 9sec legitimate time slip I would like to get with it. Better weather it should be all MINE.
It was funny because they ran a quick 8 and my car out 60ft most of those cars running 9teens and high 8s! These vettes properly setup really can 60ft HARD> The car is so much fun now taking it to the track and not having to worry 1 bit about the drivetrain breaking. I have some more little tricks up my sleeve to get some more ET out of it. I am still running big old heavy azz rotors on the car and power everything. I do not want to compromise the car for driving it on the street so I am pretty happy with where its at.
Maybe in a few more years if I can keep working my way up through the organization I can get a C6 for the street and turn the car into an all-out strip car. At that point though a 565 or equivalent motor will be going in.
Did you smooth out the fuel system troubles it was giving you?
How much gas did you have in the tank?
It was a bad pump or something? I forgot.
I put a 12 gallon fuel cell in the car and I could not be happier with the install and performance difference. The sender unit works perfect with the stock in dash gage.
I have my stock walbro intank pump if anyone is interested. Nothing wrong with the pump just the stock tank can't be effectively used when the car is leaving as hard as this thing does.
I thought for sure it'd be a 9 something. You're getting close!
For the first time this year, I saw the crew at Etown. Felt good to be down there, hearing all those lumpy cams and 8000rpm revs headed down the 1320 made my blood pressure jump!
Man, thats gotta be a bit spooky to not even be able to see the track while keeping on the throttle like that! How do you keep it going straight? I guess you gotta be prepared to ease off gently if you see it start to drift to not slam the front end down to hard?

I just look out the drivers side window and watch the line to make sure its not getting closer or further away. if you watch the video of my signiture you can hear me tapping the throttle to get it to come down. Otherwise I was getting close to grabbing 3gear! When it came down there it was going close to 100mph! It looks worse or I am just nuts.
As for it staying straight, the suspension does it all.
You definately do the C4's proud! Out of curiosity, Who or what's been your favorite kill at the track?
Thanks.....and probably the crotch rockets that I occasionally get paired up with and leave them in the dust. The all out big block racecars also hold a special place in my heart too.
RichS, you know all you need to do to join the ranks.
BLackRose...Definately. Beaver is having a bunch of T&T coming up and on the 17th I think one of the forum members here is going to have a track rental day. They are always fun to attend and there is no shortage of runs on those days.

Jesse, if Beaver Springs wasn't 4 hours away, I'd be all over that. Hopefully we can hook up one day when you're out somewhere closer.
