Default rear hatch question, 86

I'm going through my punch list of broken stuff and came to the rear hatch. I push the buttons, but it won't open. I do hear a click when I push the button. Is that a selinoid or something in there?

So first question, how do I do a manual pop? Second, based on the desctipion above, what do ya think? I looked in the manual but could not find where this info was located. I will admit though, electical is my weakness. Thanks folks.

There is a steel cable extending to the right side of the latch mechanixm behind the top of the carpet and below/behind the shade.
Remove the shade and/or pull the carpet back to locate it; then pull the cable to the right to manually release the hatch latch.

There is a relay and solenoid at work back there; to access them and the mechanism remove the top trim piece.

So there is no confusion, the cable will be on the left side of hatch latch when attempting to use the manual cable from inside the car.
Here is mine with a terminal crimped onto the end.
