Bad speed sensor?
I need some advice with what I think is a speed sensor problem. I have an 84', with the 4+3 transmission. The first indication I had of a problem started with the cruise control not working. Not having time to work on the car, I drove to work a couple of times with it out, planing to get on it as soon as possible. Then during a short trip across town, the speedometer suddenly went to zero, and the car started running bad. Backfiring and chugging a little.
I have checked the connection to the speed sensor on the transmission, and it appears to be cleean, and making good contact. Old connections loosing contact seems to be the biggest problem I have with this car.
Is my speed sensor bad?
What else should I check before trying to find a replacement?
My car has the 3.07 rearend. Does anyone know where I can find a sensor for it?
