I Have read alot of the posts regarding this issue with no help. I only get air out of the defroster no matter where its set. I don't believe I have, or cannot find, the vacuum check valve as in this thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...hlight=vent+ac [IMG][/IMG] Its a 1996 LT1. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
it should be a check valve there, as long as vacuum is getting to the feed line the registers should move behind the dash to give you air to the AC vents etc.
If you can locate the vacuum feed line at the back of the engine that goes into the wiring harness at the firewall (it's usually a black hard plastic tube), and connect that directly to a vacuum source, you should then be able to check the different air vent positions.
Although you should have a check valve there, if connecting the line to a direct vacuum source does not work you need to look at other issues.
The '96 in particular is noted for having collapsed vacuum lines at the programmer up under the dash, which would also cause your problems.
the 96 is NOT the check valve.
It's the lousy programmer nipples.
If you send me your box, and $100 I'll install the better hard plastic nipples, make sure it's working correctly, and send it back to you.
