Default ’85 Clutch

The clutch on my ’85 is on it’s last leg, so I ordered a new Delco clutch kit thinking that I would get the same good quality as the original. Well, that does not appear the case with what I got. I checked my original clutch disk diameter and measured a good 10 ¾ inch diameter. The replacement Delco unit measured a hair under 10 ½ inches. Also, the Delco clutch thickness is about 10 thou thinner than my USED clutch.

I should note that the original clutch disk I am referring to was replaced many years ago when I had the transmission out because of an oil leak, and is not the one that is starting to slip. The engine is stock except for some mild head porting.

Has anybody got any experience, good or bad, using a 10 ½ inch clutch instead of the original 10 ¾? From the part number description it looks like the current number replaces 3 earlier ones. What I got is:

ACDELCO Part # 381223 {replaces 88989256 #19182449, 88989256}
PLATE KIT, CLU PRESS & DRVN (W/ CVR) [US vehicles]; 2 DOORS;
RAISED DIAPHRAGM 10 3/4X26TX1 1/8
