Default burn off module problem

I've got a 85 corvette 5.7L engine, the burn off module is bad, does anyone make a modified mass air flow meter with built in burn off module, so I don't have to replace this really expensive module, and never have to deal with this problem again?

Why not re-pin your ecm to a 165....gets rid of the 85 module, and you can use the inexpensive relays, plus you get a faster ecm....and still cheaper than replacing the burn-off module in the 85....

Default burn off

I have a burn off mod sitting in my garage. I bought it used so not sure it works but I am willing to sell it if you want. Make an offer.

Lots of detail on re-pinning your ecm, use the search function to find it. It was an effective way for me to upgrade my 85, by changing the ecm to a 165 ecm from an 89 corvette. You will get a faster computer, be able to tune your chip to be more efficient, plus you get rid of the other limitations of the 85, like the one-off burn-off module that is outrageously expensive, the one-off MAF, and the slow computer, and less than effective programming. The 165 ecm affords you much better programming, and a multitude of sites to help you modify your chip. Pretty inexpensive compared to the burn-off module, just a few new pins, a 7165 ecm from e-bay ($50 or less), and a little of your time.

But, if you want to stay stock, I think I've still got the one from my 85. I'm out of the country right now, but if you can wait a week or ten days until I get home, if I can find it, you are welcome to it, as I'll never use it.

Cheers,
Michael

As far as I'm aware, the Micro-Tech MAFs do not require a burn-off function since they use a foil-based sensor instead of a hot-wire.

The Micro-Tech MAFs do have some calibration and temperature sensitivity issues, but they're an option at least.

I used to use one before converting to a Ford 05+ slot-style MAF.
